Presentation of over 1500 books and publications to the national library of Venezuela on Friday, 15 January 2016

The Embassy of India in Caracas presented over 1500 books and publications to the National Library of Caracas in a ceremony organized in the National Library premises under the auspices of theVenezuelan Ministry of Popular Power for Culture. The books are on India-related topics such as art, culture, economy, personalities like Gandhi and Tagore, etc and on India-Venezuela bilateral relations. The event was attended by about 100 participants including Ms. Maria Fernanda Barreto, Vice Minister for Culture, and Mr. Sady Arturo Loaiza Escalona, Executive Director of the Institute. The members of media were also present on the occasion. Artist enthralledthe audience with Venezuelan folk dance at the end of the ceremony.

The Vice Minister-designate thanked the Mission on behalf of President Maduro and Minister of Popular Power for Culture for the gesture and said that it will open further avenues of cooperation with abrotherly country. The Executive Director also thanked the Missionand said that the National Library would make efforts to enhance the cooperation further by setting up India Centres.

The National Library has a wide network of more than 700 libraries allover the country and supported by the Ministry of Popular Power forCulture, it evinced keen interest in enhancing cooperation in this field. On this occasion, Mr. Pardeep Kumar, Head of Chancery & Head of Political Dept and Mr. Deen Dayal Singh, Head of the Press,Information & Culture Department represented the Embassy.
